Grandmaster Tae E. Lee, BA,MA,9th Dan

Grand Master Lee, a native of South Korea, currently holds the rank of 9th degree black belt. He is also the only Korean Grand Master and internationally certified World Taekwondo Federation Grand Master in Ottawa.

In November, 2009, Grandmaster Tae E. Lee was appointed as Treasurer of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) by its President, Dr. Chungwon Choue.  As such, Grandmaster Lee is a member of both the WTF Council and WTF Executive Committee.  Not only is Grandmaster Lee the only Canadian on the WTF Council, this is the first time ever a Canadian has held such a high and prestigious post at the WTF.

Grand Master Lee opened the city’s first Taekwondo school in 1977, and since then, has been a leader in successfully promoting Taekwondo in Canada. In Korea, Taekwondo is revered as both a powerful martial art and as a philosophical discipline.

The Philosophy

Grandmaster Lee developed the Moo Kwang philosophy, reflecting his belief that Taekwondo can unite the mind, body, and spirit. The philosophy of Moo Kwang Taekwondo begins with the name of the martial art itself. The interpretation of the words are:

Moo is non-stop and eternal. Kwang is brightness.

The benefits are many, and include:

  • self confidence
  • physical fitness
  • mental agility
  • personal security
  • improved concentration at work or school
  • improved coordination
